Who am I?

I am an experienced Senior Manager adept at utilising expertise in Finance and HR to transform strategic objectives into operational outcomes that drive business growth and sustainability. Key strengths include: implementing robust financial management and delivering against challenging P&L budgets in highly competitive sectors; championing and enabling change to drive a culture of continuous improvement, employee learning and customer focus; collaborating with senior stakeholders to challenge the status quo, define objectives and set targets to develop new business opportunities  and add value to existing customers; and experience providing visible leadership and effective performance management to turn business around in fast moving environments.

A narrative of my career

I started my career in Finance working within Engineering, Manufacturing, Distribution and Service companies. I achieved my Accountancy qualification in 1999 and moved into a senior role as Financial Controller with Pickerings Europe. I managed the Finance function and implemented robust reporting structures in an organisation with a turnover of £18m. In 2000 I joined Temp-Team, (Danish Recruitment Company with offices worldwide), as Managing Director to expand the UK branch network and establish the strategic direction for significantly loss making units. I developed a sustainable and scalable business model, introduced a new executive brand and grew the business from £3m turnover to £18m while increasing margins from 17% to 24%. I also improved retention rates by 31% above industry norm in an industry where staff turnover is at 45% and delivered a clear career progression path. In 2009 I achieved my HR qualification. I recently set up Kennedy James to utilise my expertise and provide flexible, cost effective solutions on an interim or project basis

My objective

Seeking interim or project roles to leverage extensive Finance and HR expertise and fill an immediate skills gap, strengthen a business critical project or support and enable a change programme.
